Main responsibilities:

  • Ensure a cost effective, high quality and safe approach to design works including feasibility, option selection, detailed design and entry into service
  • Support interfaces with clients on design issues
  • Ensure that work carried out is in accordance with Railway Industry
  • Ensure the design elements meet the requirements of legislation, including construction design management (CDM) regulations
  • Support Design Manager to ensure works are carried out within budget and to agreed timescales
  • Analyze current engineering methods used within the company and develop steps and processes to improve
  • Document and monitor requirements needed to institute proposed updates in relation to customer experience
  • Account for possible project challenges or constraints and proactively seek to manage challenges
  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including time and scope involved
  • Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and creating them for other members of the team
Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and one of the following languages: Swedish/Norwegian/Danish
  • The ability to check detailed signalling design (Circuit design, location cases etc)
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting the wider team competency in the field of Rail Signalling engineering and stay up-to-date with contemporary practice and trends in the industry
  • Proven ability to provide mentorship of junior and mid-level engineers and take an active role in the team’s technical development and standing in the industry
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of industry standards
  • Strong communication skills including writing comments, and managing stakeholder/customer relations
  • Ability to author design and presentation documents

Additional skills:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in railway signalling
  • Experience in the delivery of railway system projects including review of contractor’s design submissions, interface management of signalling and train control to other railway systems
  • Experience in signalling design management
